Bringing Other People Onto Your Trip

Inviting Companions

As the booker, open the trip and choose Manage reservation, then Invite a companion. Add a name and an email address, and Kabora sends an invitation, up to five per stay. In the Kabora app, open the trip's people and choose Manage guests, where you can also share the link by text.

What Your Companions Receive

The email carries a link to the invitation. If they are signed out, the page names the city and offers Sign in to view it, which returns them to the invitation. It opens only for the address you invited, and a forwarded link says so. The invitation then shows the stay: the place, the city, the dates and who is hosting, with Accept and Decline.

Accepting places the trip in their own Trips list, with the link to the stay: the address, directions, arrival details and the guidebook.

Seeing Who Has Joined

• On your trip: Everyone you invited is listed under Travel companions. Anyone who has not answered yet is marked pending.
• On a companion's trip: Your companions see only who has joined.
• Under Invite a companion: Everyone you invited is listed, marked Invited or Joined, each with a Revoke beside them.

What Companions Can Read

Companions can read and write in your conversation with the host, including everything already said, so treat an invitation like adding somebody to a group chat. Their name appears in In this conversation in the thread header, for you and your host to see.

What Companions Cannot Do

Changing the booking, canceling it, and inviting anyone else remain with you, the booker. A companion does not see Manage reservation on their copy of the trip. Kabora refuses changes and cancellations from anyone but you. Message your host does open for them.

Inviting somebody does not change the number of guests the stay is booked for, as you and your host see it, and changes no price. To change that number, use Change reservation.

Revoking an Invitation

Revoke removes an invitation, before or after it was accepted. For somebody who had joined, it also removes the trip from their account. There is no separate "declined" state to clear. Declining removes the invitation, and inviting the same person again sends a fresh link.

When an Invitation Is Not Possible

• Yourself: You cannot invite yourself.
• The same address twice: An email address can be on the stay only once.
• Canceled or ended stays: Invite a companion is removed once a stay is canceled or past its check-out date.
• Stays booked on other sites: There is none on a stay booked on Airbnb, Vrbo or Booking.com. Those are marked Booked on Airbnb (or Vrbo, or Booking.com). Date changes, payments and cancellation happen where the booking was made.
• A stay canceled later: An invitation to it stops working, and whoever opens the link is told the trip was canceled.
