Editing, unsending, and reacting

On the website, hover a message and two buttons appear beside it: a ⋯ menu and an emoji face, so you want a mouse or a trackpad. In the Kabora app, press and hold the message instead — same tools, same windows, same emoji.

The menu holds Reply, Copy, Star message, Pin to the top and Keep as a saved message; Edit and Unsend on your own recent messages; and Report this message on your host's.

The two windows

• Edit — 15 minutes from when you sent it.
• Unsend — 24 hours from when you sent it.

Both are checked again on our side when you press them, so a page left open overnight cannot stretch either one.

Edit closes first while Unsend is still there. After 15 minutes the menu says "Editing expired 15 minutes after." where Edit was, and after 24 hours it says unsending has expired too.

What each one leaves behind

Editing is never silent. The message wears Edited from then on, and your host sees the new words carrying that label.

Unsending blanks the message for good — the words, any photo, and every reaction people put on it. In its place you both see a line saying a message was unsent, so there is no unexplained hole in the thread. There is no undo, which is why the button makes you press it twice.

Only messages you typed yourself can be changed. You cannot edit or unsend what your host wrote, and an automated message cannot be edited or unsent by anyone. You can still react to one.

Reacting

Eight emoji: ❤️ 👍 🔥 😂 😮 😢 🙏 🎉.

One reaction per person per message. Picking a different one replaces yours; picking the same one again takes it back. You can react to what your host wrote, not only to your own messages.

Hover a reaction to see who left it. A number beside it means more than one person picked that emoji.

Replying to one message

Reply pins that message above the box — who wrote it, and the first couple of lines of it — and sends a compact quote along with your answer. Clicking the quote jumps the thread back to the original and flashes it so you can find it.

If the original is later unsent, the quote fades to Message unsent instead of repeating what it used to say.

A message can run to 5,000 characters.
