Searching and booking

How the price of a stay is worked out

The nights

A stay is priced night by night from the host's calendar, not one rate multiplied out. A Saturday premium, a holiday week or a single overridden date all land in the total, and you can open the nights row in the breakdown to see each night at its own price.

What can be added

  • Cleaning fee. A host may set a different one for stays of two nights or fewer, since a turnover costs the same either way.
  • Linens fee, where a host charges one.
  • Extra guest fee, for each guest above the number the host includes, counted the way the host chose — once for the stay, per guest, per night, or per guest per night. Infants never count toward it. The Kabora app asks for adults, children, infants and pets separately; the website's booking box asks for one number, so everyone in it counts.
  • Pet fee, only on places that take pets, counted the same way the host chose. The Kabora app adds it when you say pets are coming; the website's booking box cannot ask, so settle it with your host there.
  • Tax, worked out on everything above — the fees are taxed alongside the room rate — and named as whatever it is called where the property is.

Only lines above zero are shown, so a fee your host does not charge never appears at all.

Discounts

Hosts can set weekly, monthly, early-booking, last-minute and length-of-stay discounts. They do not stack — one of them applies, normally the largest your stay qualifies for. Weekly and monthly are the exception to that rule: they never compete, and if your stay is long enough for the monthly discount, the monthly one is used even when the weekly one is bigger.

One discount does stack on top of the rest — the new-listing discount, 20% off across the first three bookings of a property in its first 90 days. It is off until a host switches it on, so do not count on a new place being cheaper.

A discount can never come to more than the accommodation costs, and a stay touching a host's blackout period gets none at all.

What Kabora adds: nothing

There is no Kabora fee on your bill. The setting to charge guests one exists, and it is set to zero and switched off, so what you pay is the host's price, their fees and the tax. Underneath the total, Where your money goes shows how that same total splits — your host's share, any tax, the card processing and Kabora's platform fee. The last two come out of your host's side, so nothing is added to your price.

Outside the total

A security deposit is never in the total. Its own note says whether Kabora holds it on your card, charges and refunds it, or your host collects it.

Whatever the page showed you, the server prices the stay again when you book, and that number is the one that counts.
