When a stay is paid in parts

Most stays are paid in one go when you book. Two kinds are not:

• A stay of 28 nights or more is paid a month at a time, whether you found it through Kabora search or on a host's own site.
• On a host's own booking site, the host can split a shorter stay: a deposit when you book, and the rest a week before check-in — at most three parts.

A stay found through Kabora search that is shorter than 28 nights is paid in full.

What you see

Before you pay, the booking says how much is charged today and what is charged to your card later, and on which dates. Your trip page lists the parts under Payment schedule — which are paid, and which are still to come. You pay only today's part.

The card you pay with is kept for the parts still to come, and you can change it from your trip page.

If you book inside a week of check-in, the parts that would already be due are taken at booking. Nothing can fall due in the past.

When a later part comes due

It is charged to the kept card on its date, without asking again. If the card is refused, it is tried again three days later and seven days later, and you can pay the part or change the card from your trip page in between. If the third try fails too, Kabora cancels the stay and your cancellation policy decides what comes back for that day — see "Cancelling, and what comes back".

If your host can't take cards yet

Card payments on Kabora are real, and they go straight to your host. But a host who hasn't finished setting up payments has nowhere for a card to land. Where that is the case, the pay panel on your trip page says so in its own words: it offers a practice run, not a real payment, and no card is asked for and no money moves.

So if that host needs paying now, that is a conversation with them. It is not something Kabora can put through for you.

What none of this changes

Your cancellation terms. The policy that was attached to your booking on the day you made it is the one that decides what comes back, and paying in parts does not touch it.
