Saving places, and how wishlists work

Saving

The heart is on every place card on the marketplace and at the top of every listing page. Press it and it fills straight away; press it again to un-save.

If you are not signed in, the heart opens the sign-in box on the page you are reading rather than dropping you back at the top of the marketplace — and it remembers which place you meant, so the save is usually waiting when you come back. Finish signing in from that box, then glance at the heart — if it is empty, press it again. Closing it instead — Escape, the ✕, a click outside — deliberately drops the request, and you come back to an empty heart.

Where your saves show up

Everything you save lands in Wishlists.

• Saves appear under Saved places whether or not you have filed them into a list. Filing it does not take it out of that grid.
• Your lists sit above the grid as tiles of photographs, each with a count.
• There is no separate pile for saves you have not filed. On this page they sit in the same grid as everything else.

Putting places into lists

• On a laptop, drag a place from Saved places onto a tile.
• On a phone's browser, tap the tile, open Add or remove places, and tick the ones that belong in it. The row of places inside an open list can only take things out — "Remove from list" — so ticking is the way in.
• A place sits in one list at a time. Filing it into a second list moves it out of the first.
• Dragging onto New list makes the list and files the place in one gesture. Pressing New list instead lets you type a name.
• A list made by dropping takes its name from the place's city — or from the place's own name when it has no city — with a number added if you already have a list by that name. Tap the tile to open it and rename it there.
• A list stops existing when its last place leaves it: moved to another list, unticked, or removed with "Remove from list".
• Un-saving with the heart does not do that. The list stays behind, empty. Remove it with the ✕ that appears in the tile's top corner when you hover it. There is no confirmation step, and the places in it are kept — they stay saved, just not filed anywhere.

Sharing a list

A new list has no share link. Open it and press Reset link once to make one; after that, copy it from the share icon in the tile's corner, or from the line inside the list.

Whoever holds the link can open the list with no account and no sign-in. They see the places, their photos, prices and ratings, and nothing else: not your name, not your other lists, not your trips. The page is kept out of search engines.

Reset link mints a new link and stops every copy already sent from working. That is the whole of taking a list back. There is no way to remove one person's access while leaving everyone else's, and on the website there is no "stop sharing" that leaves a list with no link at all.

In the Kabora app

The app's Wishlist tab holds the same saves and lists. Saving asks which list to keep it in, you can drag a place onto a list, and a list's Edit menu can stop sharing it.

When a host takes a place down

It does not quietly disappear. It stays under Saved places, greyed out, marked "No longer listed — the host took this one down", with its name, place and photo but no price and no link — a price you cannot pay and a link that goes nowhere are both worse than saying what happened. It keeps its heart, so you can let it go when you want to.

It does drop out of the list you filed it in, and the tile's number still counts it: a tile can say four and open on three. Somebody opening your shared link still sees it, marked "No longer listed", and it does not open for them either.
