Safety and problems
Something is unsafe, or the place isn't clean
If you're in danger
Call your local emergency number first. Kabora has no phone line and no live chat, and nothing here reaches Kabora staff in minutes. The report form says it in as many words: we can take a listing down, we cannot reach you.
Your host is the fastest thing the product can reach. A message on the stay's thread lands in their inbox the moment you send it.
Then, in this order
1. Tell the host in the conversation for the stay. Most of this is fixable by the person with the keys, and the thread is the record. 2. Report the listing. "Report this listing" is a link partway down every listing page, and at the foot of the listing in the Kabora app. "It isn't safe or clean" is one of six reasons, and the optional box is where you say what you saw and where. It goes to Kabora staff, not to your host. You have to be signed in. 3. Open a support case if you need somebody at Kabora to answer you. A report gets a listing looked at and no reply comes back; a case is a conversation — you get an email saying a person will reply within 24 hours, and the conversation stays in Messages, under Support, on the web and in the app. It's at Help, then Contact support, signed in.
Cancelling, and what comes back
Cancelling is not always yours to do.
- Most policies let you cancel yourself. The sheet shows the exact refund before you confirm it.
- The policy on your booking decides the refund, not the reason you are leaving. A dirty flat does not move you into a better band.
- Where your booking recorded terms, the platform fee and the card processing do not come back. Even inside a free-cancellation window, what returns is the stay minus those two.
- On a Non-refundable booking — and past the free window on any policy that doesn't allow late cancellation — the button is not Cancel. It reads Ask the host to cancel, no refund figure is shown, and your stay stays booked until the host answers.
What a listing's safety ticks mean
A host can tick six safety items: smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, exterior lighting, pool fence.
They do not get a section of their own. They sit mixed into the one list under What this place offers, and only the first ten amenities are shown — press the button beneath the list that counts them ("Show all 23 amenities", or however many there are) to see the rest.
The Safety heading on a listing is where the host says more: dangers such as a pool with no gate, where the alarms and extinguisher are, what to expect, and any outdoor cameras. It shows only what the host said.
That list is what the host ticked. Nobody at Kabora inspects the property — we take the host's word on a listing claim, the same as every other claim, and rely on people reporting what they find.
Just as important: a missing tick is not a claim. No "Pool fence" on a listing means nobody ticked the box, which is not the same as a pool without a gate. If something matters to you, ask before you book rather than reading the gaps.
After you leave
If your stay went ahead, cleanliness is one of the ratings on a review, which you can write once check-out has passed. A stay that was cancelled cannot be reviewed.
