What each line on the price means
What you are charged
Before you press Reserve, the panel itemises the stay:
- Nights — the accommodation total for your dates. Open it and you get every night at its own price, because rates move by day of week and by season.
- Discount — a minus line, named for the discount that applied: weekly, monthly, early booking, last minute, length-of-stay, early bird or new listing. Only the largest single one applies. The new-listing discount is the exception — it stacks on top of another, and the line then reads like New listing + weekly discount.
- Cleaning fee, Linens fee, Extra guest fee — only when the host charges them. A fee that is zero is not printed as a row.
- Taxes — under the local name where the property is, so a stay in Spain reads IVA rather than Taxes.
The total at the bottom is the whole price. Nothing is added after it. If you searched with dates, the card in the search results already quoted a full stay total with fees and taxes in — for the cheapest room available on those dates, so it can differ from a pricier room on the same listing.
How each fee is worked out
- Cleaning is a flat amount for the whole stay. Hosts can set a second, separate cleaning rate for short stays — two nights or fewer.
- Linens is a flat amount for the whole stay. It does not rise with the number of nights or with the size of your party.
- Extra guest and Pets are counted the way your host chose: once for the stay, per guest or pet, per night, or per guest or pet per night. Extra guests are counted above the number the host includes in the rate.
Guests, infants and pets
In the Kabora app you pick Adults, Children, Infants and Pets. Infants don't count toward a per-person charge, and a pet fee is added when pets are coming.
The booking box on the website asks for one number, Guests, and everybody in it counts toward the extra guest fee. Two things follow, and it is better to know them before you book than after:
- An infant is not exempt there. The box has nowhere to say one is coming, so anyone in it is counted. Do not leave them out to dodge the fee either — that same number is checked against how many people the place sleeps.
- A pet fee is not on the price the website shows. The box cannot say you are bringing a pet, so a host's pet fee is not in that total, even on a listing that allows pets.
Book in the app, or message your host before you book, if either applies to you.
What you are not charged
Under the total is a second half, Where your money goes: to your host, card processing (about 3%), and the Kabora platform fee. You do not pay either of the last two. They come out of what your host receives, so nothing is added to the price you saw.
There is a separate Kabora fee that would ride on top of the host's price — the guest fee. It is set to zero and switched off, so today you pay the host's price alone.
The two lines are shown anyway, on purpose. "The platform fee is not returned" means nothing to somebody who never saw a platform fee — and both come off the top of any refund first, before a cancellation percentage is applied to what is left.
A security deposit, where a host asks for one, is not part of the total either. Depending on the host, Kabora holds it on your card, or charges it and gives it back, or your host collects it themselves — see "Security deposits".
