Where your messages live, and who can read them

Messages sits at Messages on kabora.app. It opens on whatever is at the top of your list — starred threads first, then unread, then the newest — and on a computer lays out three panels: your conversations on the left, the open thread in the middle, and the stay it is about on the right. On a phone the same tap drops you on your list of conversations instead.

Where a thread comes from

• Booking a place creates the thread for that stay.
• Message host on a listing page opens a short form — your dates, who is coming, your message — and sending it starts a separate question thread for that home. Pressing it again lands you in the same one — it never starts a second.
• Question threads and booking threads stay apart on purpose, so an enquiry about next summer does not land inside the conversation about this weekend.

Who can read it

Click the faces in the thread header for In this conversation. That list is worked out from who actually has access, not asserted.

• On the host's side: the owner, plus any manager, co-host or custom-role teammate whose role can message guests. If a teammate's access is limited to certain properties, their inbox lists only the threads for those properties.
• On your side: you, and anybody who has joined the trip. A companion you invited and who accepted can read the thread and write in it, and is named in that list — which is how you can check who that is. Somebody still invited and not yet joined is not, because they have no access until they accept.
• Your notes, on the right-hand panel, is a private scratchpad only you see. Your host has their own private note on the same thread, and you never see theirs either.
• Reporting does not hand your thread to staff. Report this conversation, in the thread's menu, sends Kabora staff what you write plus which host and property it is about — not the messages themselves. Your host is not told you reported it.

Finding and tidying

• Search matches your host's name, the place's name, the city, the stay dates, and — from two letters — words anywhere in a thread. One letter starts narrowing the list.
• Search only looks at the list you are already in, so archived threads turn up under Past conversations and nowhere else.
• Filter by All, Unread, Starred or Past conversations.
• The page refreshes itself every 20 seconds while the tab is in front.

You cannot delete a conversation. Archive is the only way to put one away: it drops out of the list and stops counting as unread, and it comes back from Past conversations whenever you want it.
