Read Receipts

Kabora has one privacy switch, and it controls read receipts. It is on by default, and it is symmetric. If you turn yours off, you stop seeing when others read your messages, exactly as they stop seeing when you read theirs. Receipts work only when both people share them.

Where it is: Account settings → Privacy and sharing → Read receipts. The phone app has the same switch. Turning it off takes effect immediately, including for earlier messages.

Kabora applies the switch where the message data is built, not where the marker is drawn. The read time therefore never leaves the server. Kabora does not hide the marker while still sending the time to the other side.

Your host's inbox respects the switch, on the web and on the phone. With either side's switch off, the host learns nothing about when you opened the thread. The plain Seen below your last message is removed too. A screen that still shows a read time is a bug worth reporting, not a rule.

Your own unread badge is unaffected. It is your own bookmark, not a receipt about you.

Optional Profile Details

A phone number, a photo, a short bio, your languages and your postal address are all optional. You can edit or delete each one. No host screen shows any part of your address; it appears only on your own profile. Your date of birth is used only to confirm you are 18 or over, and hosts never see it.

What a Host Always Sees

The host you book with receives your name and the details of the stay. They also receive your email, and your phone number if you gave one. These are available to them only from booking confirmation until the end of your check-out day. Before and after that period, all contact goes through Kabora messages. This is part of the booking, not a setting, and no switch changes it.

Muting and Archiving

• Mute a conversation: The ⋯ menu on a thread has Mute. While a thread is muted, your host's replies send you no email and no phone notification. Unmute restores them.
• Archive a conversation: The same menu archives a thread, removing it from your list. Past conversations restores it when you want it.

Notifications

Account settings → Notifications is set for each kind of update, by email and by phone. The kinds are:

• Messages.
• New bookings.
• Cancellations.
• Payment problems.
• Trip reminders.
• Review reminders.
• Trip invitations.
• Money in a booking.
• Changes to a booking.
• Extras in a booking.
• Offers and news.

Updates about a stay are on by default. Offers are off unless you turn them on. In the phone app, Profile → Account settings → Notifications holds the same list, and push notifications reach the phone. The app is in TestFlight and not yet on the App Store. The website sends email.

What Is Not Available

• Deleting a conversation: Not available. Archiving hides a thread from your list, and nothing removes it for both sides.

Kabora does not sell your data and runs no advertising trackers.
