Calendar Links With Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com

How Calendar Links Work

Kabora is not connected to Airbnb, Vrbo or Booking.com. It reads their calendars through calendar links (iCal) and lets them read Kabora's calendar. A night sold on one site is then closed on the others.

Adding a Link

Open the listing. On its Overview, under Where else it is listed, press Add external iCal. Paste the address that site provides, and press Add feed.

The Export calendar card on the same page provides Kabora's address to paste back into that site, so blocking works in both directions.

In the Kabora app, open the listing's own month on the Calendar and press its settings button. Availability → Connect calendars does both.

Viewing Every Link

Settings → Listings → iCalendar lists every calendar link you have, whichever listing it belongs to. Each link displays when it last carried its dates, with a Sync beside it, so you can see whether any link has stopped working.

You add and remove a link on its listing, because a calendar link is that place's calendar on another site.

What a Link Carries

A link carries dates only. A booking on Airbnb arrives as closed nights, labeled with the link's name and the title that site gave them. Kabora records no booking from it. A Kabora booking closes those nights on the other site when that site next reads Kabora's link.

Rates, guest names, message threads and totals do not travel over a calendar link; no site sends them that way. You still price and message on each site. The iCalendar screen says so too, because a link that seems to do more than it does leads to double work.

Nights that arrived on one link are not passed on through Kabora's own link. If Vrbo needs to know about an Airbnb booking, Vrbo must read Airbnb's link, or you funnel the sites through one link, as described below.

Identifying a Calendar's Site

When you paste an address, Kabora identifies the site: an airbnb.com link arrives labeled Airbnb. Beside the nickname, a Shows as menu carries each site's logo, so you can change the label.

Most hosts with several listings funnel every site through one Airbnb export, maintaining one link instead of a dozen. The address says Airbnb, but the nights inside are Booking.com and Vrbo as well. Kabora cannot detect this from the link, but you can state it here.

Whatever you select, the mark carries a small calendar corner, meaning "Airbnb, by calendar link". This is deliberate: Kabora does not communicate with Airbnb, and a logo without the corner would suggest that it does.

Sync Frequency

Kabora reads each link every 4 hours unless you change it under iCalendar → Sync settings. Sync beside a link reads it immediately. Share the nights you block, on the same tab, determines whether nights you close by hand also go out on Kabora's link.
