Adults, children, infants, and pets

A reservation records four numbers, and almost every question about "how many guests" wants a different subset of them.

• Adults and children pay, and fill beds.
• Infants do neither. Every booking site agrees that charging for a baby is an error.
• Pets are counted separately so a property's pet limit can be checked against something.

This is why per-person fees multiply by adults and children only. A family of two adults and a baby is charged for two — and now that fees can be charged per person per night, getting that wrong would be a wrong total on every night of the stay rather than one wrong line.

Occupancy is counted the same way today: a cot is not a bed, so an infant does not consume the property's sleeping capacity either. The two are tracked separately because they are separate questions, so one could change without the other.

The Kabora app and the search bar ask for adults, children, infants and pets separately. The booking box on the website asks for one number, Guests, and counts everyone in it.
