Changing, Extending, and Canceling a Reservation as a Host

Changing Dates, Guests, or Place

Change reservation proposes new dates, a new party or a different unit. When the guest has a Kabora account, they must accept it. This protects the guest: what a guest pays never changes without their agreement.

It is a card in the conversation on every screen, showing the difference, then the answer. The nights are not held while the guest decides.

A change onto nights another booking holds is refused before any price is shown: Those dates are not available — another reservation already holds them. Nights you blocked yourself only warn you.

Your change is priced at current rates for every night, unless you enter the nights' price to keep what was agreed.

Changing a Stay You Entered Manually

A stay you entered manually changes as soon as you confirm:

• Cheaper stay: The guest is owed exactly the difference from what they have paid. You are told to return it from Send or request money; nothing is returned automatically.
• More expensive stay: The guest owes the difference. On a stay paid in parts, it is added to the remaining parts; otherwise, it is a balance the guest pays from their trip page.

Extending a Stay

A guest requests an extension from their trip page, and you answer on the card. A stay booked on another site is extended on that site.

Canceling a Reservation

Before you confirm, Cancel reservation tells you two things: the guest receives everything they paid, because no policy applies when you cancel, and the nights remain closed on your calendar.

Kabora's fees are not returned, so you absorb them. The guest is told the same figure in the cancellation message and by email. A card refund returns to the card through Stripe.

A stay the guest paid for outside Kabora shows the refund as owed, to you and the guest, until you press Record the refund you gave on the stay.

Consequences of a Host Cancellation

A host cancellation is recorded, and the guest is told that you canceled. Canceling a booking Kabora found also incurs a cancellation fee owed to Kabora, shown on the cancel screen before you confirm and deducted from your next bookings through Kabora. What no booking has taken within 30 days is charged to the card you saved for Kabora's bills, or emailed to you as an invoice. Cancel a stay a guest has paid for only when you must.
