Setting up payments

Guests pay you, not Kabora. The charge is created on your own Stripe account, the money is yours from the moment it settles, and Kabora's fee is split off that charge as it happens. We never hold your money — which is also why chargebacks and refunds are yours to control rather than ours to sit between.

Set it up under Settings → Payments and payouts.

Why it says "needs finishing"

An account existing is not the same as an account working. Stripe creates it on your first click and it stays unusable until identity, bank details and often a tax ID are all in — and their form is long enough that most people abandon it halfway to go and find a passport.

So the card tells you what Stripe is actually still waiting for, rather than "setup incomplete". Finish those and it turns green.

Ready means two things

• Charges enabled — guests can pay.
• Payouts enabled — the money can reach your bank.

Both have to be true. Stripe can also switch an account off later if a verification lapses, which is why the status is checked again whenever Stripe tells us it changed.

You need it before a place goes live

A place can't be listed on Kabora until Stripe is connected and guests can pay — the first of the two above. When that is what's missing, the place's status menu shows Listed greyed out with the reason — "Connect payouts first — the guest pays you directly through Stripe, so without it nobody can pay for a booking here." — and a Connect payouts → link to this page.

It is asked when a place goes live.

If Stripe pauses your payments later

Stripe can switch card payments off on an account that was working, usually because something it asked for has gone overdue. From then on nobody can pay you, so your places come off search and can't be booked. Every page of your dashboard says so, with a See what Stripe needs button, and we email you too. Stays already booked are not affected, and once Stripe switches payments back on your places come back by themselves.

We never see your documents

Stripe hosts the form. Your bank details and identity documents go to them directly and never touch Kabora — the same reason no card number is ever stored here.

If Check again is showing, it is because Stripe's notification can arrive after your browser gets back. Press it rather than filling the form twice.
