Photos, Videos, and Translation in Messages

Both sides can send photos and videos from the composer's menu. "Add a photo or video" lets you choose up to ten at a time, and they appear in the box before you send. Each arrives in the thread as its own message, and anything you typed follows as its own.

Accepted files:

• Photos: JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB.
• Video: MP4, WebM or MOV, up to 80 MB. An iPhone video in HEVC that your browser cannot convert is refused; save it as H.264 first. On an iPhone, set Settings → Camera → Formats to Most Compatible before you film.

The Kabora app converts an iPhone photo into a JPEG before it sends. If a browser hands over a .heic instead, save it as JPG first, or set the iPhone camera to Most Compatible as above.

Translation

When translation is available, a guest sees a "Translate to ‹language›" link under each message from the other side. It does not appear when the message is plainly in the guest's language.

• Hosts on the website: Translate this conversation, among the conversation's actions, translates every guest message into your language.
• Hosts in the Kabora app: The same link appears under each guest message.

Account settings → Languages & translation → Automatic translation translates every conversation without asking, into your app language. A message written in one of your Other languages you know is left as written. The original text is never altered, because translation is a reading aid, not a rewrite.
