Money

The ledger: costs, income, and entries that repeat every month

Under Operations → Ledger. Bookings and crew tasks reach owner statements on their own. The ledger is for the rest of the money that moves in the business — power, water, repairs, insurance, supplies — so a month's owner statement and Metrics → Performance tell the whole story.

An entry

What was it for, Amount, Direction (Money out or Money in), Category, Date it moved, and the Listing it belongs to — or the business as a whole, billed to no owner. Anything recorded against a listing appears on that listing's owner's statement.

On a cost against a listing with an owner, Your share on top, charged to the owner adds a percentage of your own. The cost stays as typed; your share is added to what the owner is charged and counts as your income.

The page reads one month at a time: In, Out and Net, then By category. Net is money in minus money out across what is recorded here, so it is profit only if every cost is in the ledger.

Entries that repeat

A mortgage, HOA dues or an insurance premium is the same every month. Set Repeats to Every month, on this day and the entry is written on the ledger on that day each month from then on, so the owner statement and Performance see it without you typing it again.

Repeats every month, on the same page, lists each one with its day, how many months it has written, and when it lands next. Stop ends it; the months already written stay.

What it is not

Nothing on the ledger moves money. An entry is a record of money that moved some other way.
